SYNOPSIS Innovation technology, mostly driven by the development of nanomaterials, is the key for a long-term vision of our economic and social world. The winning impact of the micro-nano systems obtained thanks to the development of new advanced processes for materials designing at the nanoscale is offering the possibility to better satisfy individual and collective needs regarding health, energy, sustainable growth, working environment, transportation, communications, security and more. This Session will illustrate some outstanding examples of the activities carried out in strategic nanotech areas by two research institutions, Tel Aviv University (Israel) and EMPA (Swiss), strongly involved in the preparation of cutting-edge nanomaterials and in several innovative researches aimed at the opening of new paths towards radically new engineering of nanomaterials.
