Nanotechnologies for space: missions, opportunities and challenges
The symposium will introduce the status for the use of nanotechnologies in space programs, the technical challenges to be undertaken and the business opportunities given by the new space economy. Nanotechnology experts from industry and agencies will present broad, long-term goals, identifying scientific and technological barriers, that once overcome, will enable advances toward those goals. Advanced materials will play a critical role in the realization of the goals and missions of next decade as well as serve to fuel the space economy in years to come. Miniaturization of EEE components through application of advanced manufacturing techniques, able to assure reliable operations in the harsh space environment, will provide new capabilities with volume and mass reduction.
