Dr. Robert Landsiedel is working at BASF since 1999. After assignments in product safety and product development in North Carolina, USA and Tokyo, Japan, he returned to Ludwigshafen, Germany in 2006. He is now Vice President of an experimental toxicology unit, performing more than 500 toxicological studies per year for regulatory and screening purposes. Moreover developing new alternative methods in toxicology and perform research on the safety of nanomaterials. They have participated in more than 10 publicly-funded research projects and published more than 100 scientific papers. In 2012 they received the BASF Innovation Award and in 2013 the Research Award of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate as well as the German Federal Research Award for Animal Welfare.
Robert Landsiedel is a board-member of the German Society of Toxicology and member of the Scientific Committee on Occupational Exposure Limits (SCOEL) of the EU Commission; he lectures toxicology at the universities of Koblenz-Landau, Leipzig and Freie Universität Berlin.
