Iolanda Di Bernardo was born on Septempber 27th 1990 in Tarquinia, but she spent her whole childhood in Civitavecchia. After high school she obtained both bachelor and master degree in Physics with honours at Sapienza, University of Rome. She obtained the PhD fellowship in 2014 at the same University, and started working in the surface science team at LoTUS lab under the guidance of prof. Carlo Mariani and prof. Maria Grazia Betti. She took part in a collaboration with the surface science group at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane (Australia), and obtained an Endeavour Fellowship from the Australian Government to support her exchange programme in Australia. Her main interest is in the possible technological applications of graphene and graphene-like systems.
