Safe Working with nanomaterials: the NanoLab project, results from a research laboratory case study
go back
Goal of the NanoLab project, is to develop novel communication tools for risk prevention and safety management of nanomaterials in R&D laboratories, on the basis of a precautionary approach aiming to ensure a safe and successful development of nanomaterials. During the NanoLab session, project’s framework and goals, best practices for safe working with nanomaterials, and preliminary results will be presented.
The project is focusing on three case studies (nanoparticles, graphene, nanowires) within the research labs of the partners, in order to develop improved working practices for monitoring and handling of nanomaterials. A specific focus is the testing of control banding tools for risk assessment on nanomaterials.
The project is supported by the Italian Workers Compensation Authority (INAIL). Partners include: Laboratorio NEST - Scuola Normale Superiore, Istituto Nanoscienze - Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Center for Nanotechnology Innovation - Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia.
