Nanomedicine for the Nervous System | ||
go back | ||
Summary Therapy and diagnosis of diseases of the Central Nervous System represent a major challenge for pharmacologists and clinicians. This is due either to the presence of a barrier between blood and brain, limiting the entrance of drugs, and to the fact that neurons are the most delicate cells in the body. Nanotechnology could be used to improve diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes. The translation of nanoformulation technology for clinical therapeutic and diagnostic applications shows both real potential and inherent obstacles. Moreover, safety concerns should be taken into account for their potential broad clinical implications. |
