Nanotechnologies and nanomaterials for cultural heritage: Research and education as drivers for the technology transfer
go back
A major limitation of the innovation in the field of conservation of cultural heritage lies in the difficulty of the transfer of technologies from research to industry. The "Distretto di Alta Tecnologia per l’Innovazione per i Beni Culturali della Regione Sicilia" activities are intended to fill this deep gap. Considering the young people as the first engine of innovation, the District has spent a lot of efforts in higher education, working with an interdisciplinary approach, in close contact with industries. The session aims at presenting  the successful results of the Master for "Researcher Experts on nanotechnology and nanomaterials for Cultural Heritage" in which young researchers, due to the internship period, have become the links between industries and research, contributing positively to the establishment of solid cooperation, turning it also into job opportunities.
Some of the presented cases have been developed with the joined contribution of international research groups (University of Cadiz, University of Thessaloniki, University of Aveiro and University of Porto). Two other cases have been developed with the collaboration among the University of Parma, CNR Ivalsa and the CIR company.
