The project NANOAPULIA - NANOfotocatalizzatori per un’Atmosfera più PULItA funded by FSC 2007-2014 Ricerca – Cluster Tecnologici Regione Puglia, aims at reducing air pollution due to nitrogen oxides (NOx), through the exploitation of KET 2: Nanotechnology.
In particular, the NANOAPULIA project consortium (DHITECH S.c.a.r.l., Centro Studi Componenti per Veicoli S.p.A. (CVIT-BOSCH), Italcementi S.p.A., TCT S.r.l., Sipre S.r.l., Echolight S.r.l., CNR-NANOTEC and CNR-IPCF, Università del Salento, Università di Bari and Politecnico di Bari) aims at developing novel nano-structured metal oxides featuring photo-catalytic properties in the ultraviolet and in the visible for the formulation of binders and innovative mortars (building application) and for the realization of a photocatalytic reactor for the abatement of pollutants emitted from Diesel engines (automotive application).
In the course of the project, new diagnostic methods for the study of the stability and of the toxicity of photocatalytic nanostructured materials for both applications will also be developed.
After an overview of the research activities on environmental photocatalysis ongoing at Bari (Università di Bari and CNR-IPCF), the Technical Session on Nanophotocatalysis will disclose some of the most relevant aspects of the NANOAPULIA project both from the scientific side and from the application side.
