(Centro Interdipartimentale di Nanomedicina)
Laura Russo’s research experience dates back to 2009, as PhD student in the group of Prof. Nicotra, working on a multidisciplinary project exploiting glycoscience in the field of nanomaterials for tissue engineering. In 2010 Dr. Laura Russo joined the research group of Prof. Julian R. Jones, at Imperial College of London, as Visiting Academic, working on the design and synthesis of hybrid biomaterials for tissue regeneration. From 2013 she is Post Doc Fellow at University of Milano – Bicocca, and PI of the CARIPLO Foundation Project “Smart nanostructured hydrogel system for generation of contractile cardiac organoids“. In July 2016 Dr. Russo awarded a SFI Starting Investigator Research Grant (SIRG) to perform her research on “Glyco-functionalized hydrogels and biomaterials for tissue engineering applications” as Principal Investigator at the National University of Ireland in Galway. Laura Russo’s research resulted in 40 publication on peer reviewed journals, 2 patents, and gained a strong national and international impact in the media, including an interview in the national TV channel TG1.
