Agustín  Fernández  León  has  a Physics degree (Universidad Complutense of Madrid,  1989),  and  a  M.S.  in  Microelectronics (NCSU, North Carolina, 1991).  He worked  for Alcatel Telecom, as ASIC designer until he joined the European  Space  Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) of the European Space Agency  (ESA)  in  2000.  Since  2002,  he  has  been  the  head of the ESTEC Micro-electronics Section, which provides technical support in numerous  space ASIC  and  FPGA  designs  employed  in various ESA missions. In addition, the Microelectronics section defines and promotes R&D developments to improve and evaluate new space micro-electronics technology and design methodologies, focusing on reliability and radiation effects problems
