Nanostructured prepreg for high performance composite materials

The development of polymers with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has been the basis for the development for the fabrication of new families of high performance prepregs of carbon fibre-reinforced polymer composites. The incorporation of CNTs has lead to a significant improvement of their mechanical properties. The polymeric matrix acts as toughening agent enabling a better transfer of the load to the fibres thus increasing the overall tensile strength.
